Expertscape, a platform for identifying physicians excelling in the treatment and diagnosis of specific disease states, recently released its rankings for US lung cancer specialists and named AdventHealth Cancer Institute Executive Medical Director Mark Socinski, MD, number five on the list. Physicians were selected for their commitment to advancing the understanding of lung cancer through scientific publication.

In addition to AdventHealth, the rankings include a distinguished list of physicians from leading research institutions and academic medical centers across the country, including Emory University, Washington University, Massachusetts General Hospital, Dana Farber Cancer Institute, Kaiser Los Angeles, University of California Irvine, and Memorial Sloan Kettering Cancer Center.

Dr. Socinski is a board-certified, fellowship-trained medical oncologist, specializing in all thoracic malignancies, including small cell and non-small cell lung cancers and mesothelioma. He is an internationally recognized expert in the development of novel chemotherapy agents and treatment strategies for advanced non-small cell lung cancer and small cell lung cancer, and his research has focused on incorporating personalized medicine and molecular biomarkers in the treatment of lung cancer. Dr. Socinski formerly served as Co-Chair of the Thoracic Malignancies Steering Committee for the National Cancer Institute. Prior to his current position, he held leadership positions in thoracic malignancy programs at both the University of North Carolina and the University of Pittsburgh.
